Wellington Arch
Not to be confused with Marble Arch, Wellington Arch stands at Hyde Park Corner opposite of Apsley House . At one time marking a triumphant entrance to Buckingham Palace .
The arch now in its current location and with Wellington’s statute replaced with the bronze statue of the Angel of Peace, still plays a role in state processions houses and the mounted Horse Guards pass under the arch each day. Until 1992 Wellington Arch housed the second smallest Police station in London.
Today Wellington Arch has a small exhibition on dsiplay on three levels. The various monuments, statues and plaques in and around London as well as an audio visual presentation of Wellington Arch’s controversial history and great skyline views can be seen from the top.
From the balconies of Wellington Arch the visitor has a spectacular view over the surrounding royal parks.
