A classic 5 day tour to get a flavour of Great Britain taking in many of the highlights of England including London, Stratford, York, the Lake District and the spectacular capital of Scotland , Edinburgh .

Day 1- London Liverpool

A warm welcome from your Tour Director as you travel to the medieval city of Chester. See the ancient city walls and the 13th century black and white galleried 'Rows'. Then on to Liverpool, the home of the Beatles. On arrival in Liverpool you will enjoy a short orientation of the city. Enjoy free time or participate on a 'Beatles Tour' of the city. This evening arrive at your hotel for a Welcome Drink and dinner. (Dinner)

Day 2- Liverpool Edinburgh

Today drive north through the Lake District along the shores of Lake Windermere . Visit Grasmere where the poet is buried in the village churchyard. Later stop at the Scottish border town of Gretna Green, where traditionally young couples would elope against their parents' wishes in order to marry in a ceremony performed across the blacksmith's anvil. Soon reach the Scottish capital of Edinburgh and your hotel for a two-night stay. (Full Breakfast)

Day 3- Edinburgh Sightseeing at leisure

Today your guided sightseeing tour with a local expert shows you Princes Street with its elegant shops dominated by the imposing Castle. See the Royal Mile and have views of Holyrood House and Arthur's Seat. Then visit the New Town with its beautiful Georgian architecture and see the new Scottish Parliament buildings. You will have a guided visit of the apartments inside Edinburgh Castle and a chance to view the Scottish Crown Jewels. The rest of your day is free for further sightseeing or shopping. Perhaps take an optional sightseeing tour to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. Your Tour Director will suggest ways to spend your evening. (Full Breakfast)

Day 4- Edinburgh - York

The scenic town of Jedburgh awaits you this morning. Stop at the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey and hear tales of Mary Queen of Scots. Then drive through the Northumberland National Park to see the remnants of Hadrian's Wall. Later arrive in Viking York for a walking tour including the magnificent York Minster, the city walls and the famous 'Shambles'. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your Tour Director and fellow travel companions. (Full Breakfast / Farewell Dinner)

Hotel: Holiday Inn (F)

Day 5 - York - London

This morning after breakfast drive south to Coventry to see the ruins of the old Cathedral, destroyed during World War II, as well as the new modern post war Cathedral. Then continue to picturesque Stratford"“upon-Avon , the hometown of William Shakespeare . Finally take a scenic drive through the Cotswolds countryside and the Chilterns back to London, where your comprehensive tour comes to an end. (Full Breakfast)
