A dignified Palladian Mansion set in a romantic estate in the West Country, Ston Easton is a well-preserved palace of classicalism.The mansion, a listed historic building, dates back to 1740 and is surrounded by a classical landscape created by the great 18th Century landscape gardener, Humphry Repton, a scenery of sloping lawns, magnificent mature trees, mock castle, ruined grotto and Palladian bridges crossing the River Norr which flows through the grounds.
Ston Easton's sheer palatial decadence evokes a leisured era of Georgian splendour while the professional and friendly staff and cheeky house spaniels add an intimate, relaxed homely dimension to the Hotel. The house offers exquisite original pieces; of decorative marble fireplaces, glorious colonnaded door arches and magnificent state rooms, such as the 18th Century Print Room, a characterful library filled with antique period furnishings, classical etchings and historic oil paintings and elaborate plasterwork of the Palladian Saloon with its fabulous ceiling motif of the eagle of Jupiter.
The Hotel's bedrooms are elegant on a grand scale, hugely spacious, individually decorated and carefully arranged to 18th Century style with, fine antique furnishings, period wallpaper, and bone china. The bedrooms include luxurious Chippendale four-poster beds and capacious coronet beds and the bathrooms are simply fabulous, some of them converted from wig rooms of the original Georgian building. Enticing views across the estate in all directions can be appreciated from each room.
The hotel also has a number of private, cottage suites in renovated properties within the grounds.
The cuisine at Ston Easton is of award winning stature, served in a choice of elegant candlelit surroundings from the Yellow Room decked out in Georgian and Regency furnishings or the award winning Parlour and Saloon overlooking the grounds to the intimate original Georgian kitchen among the sparkling copper pans. The menu offers a fabulous selection of modern British cuisine with Mediterranean influences complemented by cellars famed for their rare wines and vintages.
Ston Easton can arrange a number of country pursuits from horse riding and shooting to golf or to simply just pulling on a pair of wellies and enjoying walks around the lake. Its close proximity to Bath means Ston Easton is ideally situated for exploring this great historic city.
