Discover the history and beauty of Wales with this7-day tour around the mountains of Snowdonia and the many mighty castles that stud the landscape.

Flying into Manchester you’ll journey to to Conwy where you’ll be greeted by the mighty 13th Century castle, the first in a chain of fortresses that ring the North Wales coast. This medieval walled city provides an ideal and historic base from which to explore the area and the Isle of Anglesey, with it’s firm place in Welsh legend and the scenically set Beaumaris Castle. Further along the north Wales coast is Caernarfon, the third in the castle chain and the venue of the investiture of the Prince of Wales.

This itinerary will take you deep into mountain territory, to the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed within the Snowdonia National Park, a place of mountain rivers, magical waterfalls and fantastic walking trails. You could also venture further a field to Mount Snowden itself, and take the train to the summit of the tallest mountain in England and Wales.

Venture out to the beguiling Llyn Peninsula, a staunchly Welsh speaking area where you could visit Bardsey Island, the isle of 20,000 saints, the captivating Italianate Village of Portmeirion and Harlech Castle another fine 13th Century fortress. A drive south along the coast road will bring you to the seaside town of Barmouth, then past the beautifully serene Mawddach Estuary and along to the tiny fishing enclave of Aberdyfi before turning inland to Machynlleth. In the Middle Ages, this town was Owain Glyndwr’s rebel capital and you can explore the area before heading back into the mountains, then head back to Manchester for your flight home.
