A luxury bungalow sitting at the edge of a secluded, sandy and protected Atlantic beach in the Western Isles of Scotland . Newly constructed, Tigh-na-Mara is ideally located for bird-watching, golf, horse-riding and fishing.
There is an open plan lounge and kitchen/dining area. The lounge has an open fire (coal or peat), satellite TV, DVD & CD player. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washer/dryer, oven & hob. A chest freezer is located in the entrance porch. The dining area seats eight adults in comfort. French doors open out onto the seaward facing conservatory with sofas and coffee table - ideal for watching the sunset
Four bedrooms sleeping up to 8 people in two king-size doubles with en-suite facilities and sea views, one twin and one bedroom with adult size bunk beds, all with their own TV & DVD. Bathroom with bath & shower and ante-room with WC, bidet and wash-hand basin.
All fuel and lighting costs are included in the rental as is bed linen & towels. A payphone is fitted for guest's use and ramped access is provided for the disabled.
A wonderful house, with exceptional quality and facilities in a lovely location. Ideal for bird watching, golf, horse-riding and fishing all of which are available locally.
The kitchen area, living area and dining area all form part of a wonderful single open-plan space. French doors can further extend this space in the west-facing conservatory giving superb sea views.
Tigh-Na-Mara is equipped with full oil-fired central heating throughout, under floor tile heating in en-suite areas, a coal/wood/peat open fire in the living room and is double glazed throughout.
A customised Visitors' Guide is kept in the house giving details of approximate costs and contact information of the various sporting, recreation and leisure activities in the area. An 18 tee 9 hole golf course is located 8 miles away, while another in South Uist was laid out by "old Tom Morris".
There are over 600 freshwater lochs - permits for brown trout are around £22 per rod, per week or £7 per rod, per day. Canoeing / kayaking, climbing, orienteering are available at the Uist Outdoor Centre, horse riding, including lessons, from Uist Community Riding School, there is a local museum at Lochmaddy, as well as boat trips and sailing clubs where visitors are welcome to join in.
Sea bathing is possible at the rear of the house and there is an indoor swimming pool in Benbecula, open most afternoons and evenings.
Otters can be seen around the coast, grey seals are very common and keep your eyes open for red deer.
There are a number of hotels, bars and restaurants in North Uist and Benbecula.
Tigh-Na-Mara is equipped with items such as musical instruments, an artist\'s easel (please bring your own paints, etc.), CD/DVD/video/book library, four mountain bicycles & helmets, four freshwater fishing rods, a set of golf clubs with trolley, outdoor Bar-B-Q and a wide range of indoor board games, including chess.
No pets are permitted because of livestock considerations.
