You can witness all of this splendour while staying in Rhoda's Cottage on the Strachur Estate, in the beautiful Cowal area of Argyll.

Attached to the west wing of Historic Strahcur House, this attractive, fully modernised cottage is entirely private with its own front entrance.

Decorated with antique yet practical furniture, Rhoda's Cottage has retained its charming, old fashioned character. The larger bedrooms overlook the spectacular formal gardens of Strachur House and out to the hills beyond. The smaller bedroom has a view of Loch Fyne.

A fine Adams-style mansion, Strachur House was built by General John Campbell in the 1780s. It was visited by the composer Frederick Chopin an 1848. From 1957 the house was home to the illustrious Scot, Sir John Fitzroy Maclean, the soldier, diplomat and adventurer, who was said to have been the model for Ian Fleming's hero, James Bond. His family continue to live there.

The cottage is on 2 levels with porch, narrow hallway, comfortable sitting room and large modern kitchen on the ground floor. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The bathroom (with shower) and the 3 bedrooms - all with combed ceilings (1 double, 1 twin or double and 1 single bedded room) are all upstairs.

Electric convector heaters (electricity included in rental). Central heating in the winter months is also included. Bed linen, towels and teatowels are provided.
