Stonefield Castle Hotel

Tranquilly located in 60 acres of woodland gardens and commanding spectacular views over Loch Fyne, Stonefield Castle Hotel is an impressive example of Scottish baronial Architecture.

Stonefield Castle is a place of tranquility and calm located well off the beaten track within its own spectacular gardens which nestle on the banks of Loch Fyne and are home to woodland walks, a castle harbour and jetty on the loch and many rare and exotic plants and flowers. The Castle is still however just over one hour's drive from Oban, gateway to the isles, and just over 2 hours from the thriving city of Glasgow.  Attractions in the area include a number of castle ruins, whisky distilleries and the spectacular coastline of the Mull of Kintyre.

Stonefield Castle itself is an impressive structure which dates back to 1837 and recalls an era of elegant baronial architecture.  Grand tower, feature windows, sloping roofs and numerous chimney stacks combine to create an impressive sight upon your approach.  Inside the public areas, lounge and library are classically designed with antique artefacts and sumptuous fabrics and boast stunning views over the loch.

There are 33 guest bedrooms at Stonefield and each and everyone has been individually designed and decorated, each with its own unique character and appointment.  One thing all the rooms do share is fresh, crisp interiors with a pleasantly traditional ambiance thanks to classic furnishings throughout.  Whilst maintaining the old-fashioned feel the guest bedrooms still offer all modern comforts including en-suite bathrooms, televisions, telephones and those special touches including quality toiletries and service trays.

The bar at Stonefield is warm and welcoming with a roaring log fire in winter months, comfortable seating and a traditional atmosphere carried through from the other public areas.  The bar offers a choice selection of wines along draught and bottled beers.  The main focus here however is the traditional scottish malt whisky and with over 60 selected single malts to choose from the bar is the perfect place for whisky novices and conoiseurs to enjoy an evening of tasting.  Dining is Stonefield is equally memorable in the traditional highland character setting of the restaurant which boasts breathtaking views over Loch Fyne from its elevated position.  The restaurant offers an intimate and romantic atmosphere combined with excellent service.  The award-winning head chef, Angus Macfarlane, has put together a menu which provides a real “Taste of Scotland” using fresh locally produced meats and seafood along with homegrown vegetables all skillfully prepared and creatively presented.

Offering a historic charm with contemporary service, a truly tranquil and picturesque location, quality dining and individual, comfortable guest accommodation, Stonefield Castle is the ideal choice for a relaxing or romantic Scottish  retreat.
