Ocean View Cottages (Isle of South Uist)

Prices From $326 per property per week

Ocean View Cottages are two tastefully furnished and well-equipped 3 bedroom detached bungalows in a secluded position at the south-west tip of the Island of South Uist with extensive all-round views of hills, lochs, sea and islands.

There are great opportunities for bird watching, hill walking, fishing or simply relaxing. It is less than 5 minutes walk to the nearest beach and 5 minutes walk to the Polochar Inn which offers bar & restaurant menus. Other hotels and restaurants are available elsewhere in the Uists and Benbecula.

South Uist is linked to Benbecula and North Uist, as well as the Isle of Eriskay, by causeways and is the second largest island in the Outer Hebrides. Benbecula is where Bonnie Prince Charlie hid before making his escape to Skye , disguised as Flora MacDonald's maid. To the north lies the charming island of Berneray, home to a friendly community and is HRH Prince Charles' favourite island. Day trips are possible to Harris and Barra.

The island is much softer and greener in contrast with the northern Hebrides. The striking large areas of grassland and wild flowers make it an elegant island. On the west coast you will find an expanse of shining white shell beaches, with fjordic inlets and bays on the east. You can enjoy a visit to the Loch Druidibeg Nature Reserve, which provides the largest breeding grounds in the country for the Greylag Goose. The lochans and sealochs of the RSPB Nature Reserve at Balranald make it a perfect place for birdwatching, including corncrakes when in season.
