WEDNESDAY - Barra. You sail from Oban at 13.40 across the Minch to Castlebay in the Isle of Barra, arriving at 18.30 for two nights. The smallest of the main islands, Barra is noted for its beauty with over 1000 different species of wild flower and stunning sandy beaches.
FRIDAY - The Uists & Benbecula. Journey northwards on the ferry from Ardmhor in Barra to Eriskay, connected to South Uist by a causeway. There are 4 or 5 daily crossings taking 40 minutes.
The Uists offer a stunning blend of brilliant white shell beaches and dunes, machair lands and freshwater lochs, interrupted by rolling dark moorland hills. Home to Corncrakes, otters, orchids and rare carpet flowers. A haven for bird and wildlife watchers and good for fishing and golf.

Our most popular holiday, the Lord of the Isles, is the perfect way to enjoy all that the Outer Hebrides have to offer. From Lewis in the north to the tiny island of Barra in the south, this tour takes you through Harris, North Uist, Benbeculla and South Uist. You can choose a holiday from 6 to 11 days in length and enjoy an itinerary that suits your own personal pace. Whatever direction you choose to travel, you will witness new wonders each day:Lewis is the largest and northern-most island in the Outer Hebrides, home to one of the finest prehistoric sites in Britain, and some fabulous beaches.
Harris is a dramatic island that boasts some of the best beaches in Britain. Harris is in fact part of one larger island, joined with Lewis to the north. Harris itself is divided into North and South Harris, by a narrow isthmus.
North Uist is a paradise for beach and wildlife lovers lying between Harris and Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides and is characterised by its 'drowned landscape' of peat bogs and lochans, and its string of bountiful beaches.
Benbecula is a peaceful and tranquil island, Benbecula is small, flat, low-lying and dotted with lochs and lochans. It is quite easy to drive straight over it, linked by causeway to the neighbouring Uists.
South Uist is a relatively large island lying between Benbecula and Barra. The east side of the island is mountainous with the highest point being Beinn Mhor at 2034ft above sea level.
Barra is a tiny island and is the most southerly of the inhabited Outer Hebrides. It is famed for its beauty boasting beaches, hills, machair and moor.
