Knipoch Hotel

Situated on the shores of Loch Feochan in the rugged west Highlands of Scotland , Knipoch Hotel is a splendid house with a history dating back to the 16th century.

Knipoch is a friendly family run hotel with elegant oak panelled interiors that echo with the long history of the house. Built in 1592, the house is situated on the ancient burial route of Scottish Kings from Scone Palace to the Isle of Iona .

Each of the well appointed bedrooms are elegantly furnished mixing traditional comfort with all the modern facilities expected by the discerning traveller. Many of the rooms boast splendid views of the Loch, while others look out to the surrounding countryside.

Knipoch Hotel places a strong emphasis on good food using fresh local produce. Guests can expect dishes such as Loch Creran salmon filleted and steaked then gently poached over a court bouillon and served with a Hollandaise sauce or Medallions of Venison pan grilled and served with a rich game sauce made from mushroom, onion, venison stock, red wine, rowan jelly and finished with cream.

The hotel's well-stocked bar includes a 360-bin list of carefully selected wines and a large range of malt whiskies, some distilled before the war.

Knipoch Hotel is perfect for a relaxing retreat, set in the heart of the Argyll Highland countryside, while the port of Oban close by, serves as a gateway to the Western Isles and Oban has a whisky distillery dating back to 1794, which is well worth a visit.
