Kinloch Hotel
Prices From $170 per room
Overlooking the rugged west coast of Arran , swept by the Irish Sea, Kinloch Hotel makes a pleasant setting off the beaten track of this charming and captivating island.Arran, it is said, is Scotland in a nutshell. Throughout the island are features that mirror each facet of Scotland's varied environment and it too has wildlife in abundance, from Red Deer in the wooded highlands, trout in the fresh waters and Golden Eagle high in the sky. Kinloch, situated on the less developed side of the island, is excellently placed for getting right into the heart of this evocative habitat.
Kinloch Hotel has been family owned and run for over 30 years and staff throughout the hotel, are extremely courteous, friendly and professional.
Don't let the dated (though in good condition) interior design features of some of the public areas put you off. The aesthetics of the 1970s were never great but they were functional and the same goes here. Bedrooms are amply sized, reasonably attractive and all are en suite with spacious bathrooms. Most rooms have sea views.
The food served here is superb and more than makes up for any other lacking departments. Fine local produce, fresh seafood and traditional Scottish fare make up the menus for both fine dining in the elegant restaurant or less formal dining in the lounge and generous portions can be expected in both.
For relaxation after a day exploring the island, hill walking or fishing, Kinloch Hotel has a lengthy swimming pool, sauna and solarium. Or if that sounds too lazy, the hotel also has a gym and squash court offering a diverse range of leisure pursuits both indoors and outdoors.
