ImageThe bustling town is situated at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain, by the shore of Loch Linnhe south of Inverness, west of Stirling, and north of Glasgow. Glen Nevis nearby forms the valley at the eastern flank of Ben Nevis.

The town has a great deal of things to see and do and offers an enormous choice for recreation, discovery and relaxation. There are plenty of fantastic attractions in the area including Inverlochy Castle, as visited and used by Robert the Bruce. Fort William is also a good base to explore the western highlands such as Mallaig and Morar, Glenfinnan, Glencoe and northern Argyll.

ImageWalking is high on the agenda with Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis on the doorstep. The town also marks the end of the West Highland Way, Scotland's oldest and most popular long distance walk and the start of the Great Glen Way. Cycling also is popular with many miles of good cycle tracks in forests and along pleasant country roads. Fort William has a downhill mountain bike track, which is very popular with extreme sports enthusiasts.

There are a wide range of eating and drinking opportunities in Fort William, ranging from good fish and chips, to rather more up market  establishments, including the prize winning Crannog Seafood Restaurant.
