Dunalastair Hotel

Awaiting you in the heart of Highland Perthshire, the Dunalastair Hotel is a real gem of a traditional Highland country inn, simply oozing authentic charm and character.

Find yourself amid some of  Scotland 's most stunning scenery at the Dunalastair Hotel, with magnificent mountain ranges in the near distance, gorgeous lochs, trickling streams and surrounded by many picturesque villages of traditional cottages and crofts.  The hotel nestles in the village square of Kinloch Rannoch, in the heart of Scotland, 20 miles west of Pitlochry and is overlooked by the famous Schiehallion Mountain.  The location is perfect for touring central Scotland's whisky distilleries and areas such as Aberfeldy and the gorgeous Loch Tay and lies approximately halfway between Inverness and Edinburgh , just 20mins off the main A9 route.

The Dunalastair Hotel dates back to the 1780's when it was built as a coaching inn by soldiers returning from the Battle of Culloden.  In recent years it has been lovingly restored with great attention to detail to preserve the original character but to provide all of today's modern comforts. The public areas are warm and welcoming with wood panelling throughout whilst the grand staircase and imposing stained glass windows offer an impressive feature of the entrance hall.  Other fascinating artefacts and memorabilia are scattered throughout.  Guests can relax in the spaciousness of the hotels comfortable public rooms, which are all beautifully decorated showing off the charm and class that the hotel has to offer.  Enjoy resting in front of the crackling log fire snuggled up on the soft cushioned sofas whilst admiring the traditional elegance and class of the room and enjoying the friendly, peaceful atmosphere.

There are 28 beautifully and individually styled, comfortable ensuite bedrooms in the hotel which all have a cosy and charming touch to them making you feel right at home.  Each room has recently been refurbished maintaining the traditional style and elegance of the hotel with décor and warm fabrics selected to reflect the earthy tones of the surrounding countryside.  A theme of comfort over modernity has been applied to ensure a restful nights sleep.  You will find colour TV with satellite channels, hospitality tray, hairdryer and controllable heating in each of the rooms.  Many of the rooms in The Dunalistair Hotel offer stunning views of the surrounding area's picturesque countryside or over the quaint village square and some boast classic 4 poster beds.

Experience some very fine dining at the hotels “Schiehallion at Dunalastair” restaurant, which was recently awarded a Rosette by the A.A for the high quality of food and service provided.  Enjoy tasting the flavours of Scotland’s finest and freshest ingredients from the restaurants inviting menu and make that perfect end to the day by finishing the evening off in the hotels peaceful lounge relaxing next to the cosy log fire with an after dinner drink.  Whisky buffs will love the Dunalastairs dedicated whisky bar where you can sample a dram or two from the fine and fantastic selection on offer. The bar has a truly traditional, Scottish feel to it and is laced with charm and character and decorated in dark woods and traditional tartans.  For a more relaxing drink, situated across the hotels courtyard is the hotel's own authentic country pub, a converted stone barn which offers a truly rustic feel and its own roaring log fire.

The Dunalastair Hotel boasts a large activity centre on site known as “Activity Scotland”, runner up of the Scottish Hotels of the Year “Activities Hotel” award 2006 and rated 4* by the Scottish Tourist Board.  Open all year, Activity Scotland can organize a range of indoor and outdoor activities including just about everything from walking, golfing, pony-trekking and shooting, to white water rafting and quad-biking for the more adventurous.
