Coul House

Prices From $0 per room
If you're looking to getaway from it all to be surrounded by the natural rugged beauty of Scotland then Coul House is ideal. Set in the heart of the Highlands , this hotel provides breath taking scenery, wonderful hospitality and a mouth-watering menu.

Set deep into the Easter Ross highlands surrounded by lakes and rivers, Lochbroom, Urray & Fodderty and Gairloch and Loch Carron this country mansion was originally built in 1821, when it must have been quite a feat to get to! Nevertheless in 1888 Queen Victoria visited Coul House and the hotel retains the Victorian pavilion style.

Walking into the reception area you are immediately greeted by a huge roaring fireplace, a warm welcome indeed after a long journey or trek through the peaks and valleys of the highlands. Comforting too is the relaxed setting of the drawing room where you can sit back with a wee dram and take in the contrast of tranquil gardens and the dramatic mountain ridges. The bedrooms are decently sized and provide an adequate base for venturing out on your highland adventures.

Once you've worked up an appetite through the day the restaurant has a wonderfully adventurous menu, which serves up the very best in local produce particularly game and fresh fish to create a feast for the taste buds that's guaranteed to please.

Though it's located on the footsteps of the wilds of Scotland, Coul House is around 30 minutes away from Inverness airport or a long but rewarding drive through the highlands. What was once a difficult place to get to, is now much more accessible but still remote enough to provide an escape from modern day hassles.
