Benbecula

A peaceful and tranquil island, Benbecula is small, flat, low-lying and dotted with lochs and lochans. It is quite easy to drive straight over it, linked by causeway to the neighbouring Uists. There is also an airport at Balivanich, where it has claim to the only cash machine on both Benbecula and South Uist. The island is blessed with some amazing beaches backed by sand dunes and the machair that is so typical of the Hebrides.
