Porthcawl
Popular with surfers, Rest Bay faces south west, so the ocean swells produce a fine surf for board riders. This beach offers wannabe surfers the ideal opportunity - with Instructors and surf board hire available. But if you're after something a little less energetic, the firm, golden sands that sweep up to a rocky shoreline backed by acres of common land offers the perfect place to relax. There's plenty to do and see in the surrounding areas such as Porthcawl town centre, harbour and promenade. There's even a road train to the local fun fair. You'll never be bored here.
Access: Off the M4, junction 37, three miles. Situated west of Porthcawl, signposted from the town centre. Road train available from stops along the Promenade. Railway - Bridgend, seven miles.
