Maes-y-Neuadd, 'the mansion in the meadow' is as graceful as its name suggests; an historic hotel, nestled within stunning scenery, ideal for spoiling yourself with a relaxing get away.

Set within 10 acres of wooded mountainside, landscaped lawns and excellent gardens, Maes-y-Neuadd dates as far back as the 13th Century, with parts of the mansion being built just 20 years after King Edward I built nearby Harlech Castle .

Much was added to the hotel in the 16th and 18th Centuries, and historic facets such as oak beamed roofs, stone walls and an inglenook fireplace and leather chairs in the bar area are prominent while more modern conveniences simple blend into the framework.

Bedrooms are spacious and well appointed, well designed and carefully looked after, though some of the traditional low beamed ceilings could prove awkward for taller guests.

The hotel is a family concern and a lot of emphasis is placed on comfort and hospitality creating a convivial atmosphere that pervades throughout. Where Maes-y-Neuadd, truly excels is with its imaginative cuisine, that has consistently impressed leading food guides and won Maes-y-Neuadd high praise and a fine reputation. The chef and co-owner is patron and manager of the Welsh National Culinary Team, and offers a menu fusing, Welsh, English and French cuisine, making the best of the best of local produce including the hotel's own kitchen garden. The fine dining experience is accompanied by an excellent selection of wines and impeccable service to match. Its no wonder Maes-y-Neuadd has enjoyed status as one of the country's most recommended hotels.

The location too gives Maes-y-Neuadd plenty to boast about; with splendid views of the summer sun setting over the Llyn Peninsula , the Snowdonia National Park on its doorstep, Harlech, with its formidable castle and the renowned Royal St. David's golf links just 3 miles away and the nearby Italianate village of Portmeirion to explore.
