The Merlin Entertainments London Eye is the latest addition to the London skyline. Offering unparalleled views across the city, it has fast become one of the most popular tourist attractions in London.

This colossal 135 metre tall wheel on the end of the Jubelee Gardens at the banks of the Thames has 32 pods, each of which hold 25 people, and takes 30 minutes for a full spin. On a clear day, views span some 40 kilometres across the city allowing for a marvellous sight over London's skyline. You can view many of London's great attractions from here, such as Big Ben and Parliament, Canada Tower at Canary Wharf, the tallest tower in London, St Paul’s Cathedral as well as Heathrow Airport and Hampstead Heath.

The best time to ‘take a ride’ is at dusk; this way, you get to see London by day and then as the sun sets you can see the city light up at night. Take note however that it is definitely one of the busier attractions in the city so it’s certainly worth booking ahead and arriving early.

Tube Station: Waterloo or Westminster
