Castle Venlaw Hotel

Luxury accommodation in Britain

A fairytale castle set in the hills overlooking the town of Peebles on the River Tweed, Castle Venlaw is located in the Scottish Borders, just 40 minutes drive from Edinburgh.

Venlaw is a romantic 18th century castle of fairytale turrets and wooded grounds set in the hills surrounding Peebles and the famous salmon fishing river; the Tweed. In the finest Scottish country house traditions Venlaw combines romance and charm with informal hospitality.

Each of the bedrooms has been individually designed in keeping with the romantic atmosphere of the castle, some with four-poster beds and attractive furnishings, while other rooms are perfectly equipped for families.

The restaurant is fabulously set with ornate ceilings, an original parquet floor and superb views, while the cuisine focuses on the very best of Scottish produce with dishes such as Wild Boar presented with sweet potato puree, aubergine caviar, savoy cabbage and Glayva jus or Fillet of Grey Mullet complimented with dill risotto and carrot puree, finished with ginger and bay leaf beurre blanc.

Castle Venlaw’s public areas include a relaxing library where you can relax by the log fire with a malt whisky from the hotel’s well stocked bar or amble around the hotel’s 4 acres of elegant grounds.
