The hotel’s restaurant the 1745 and Charlie’s Bar take their name from Bonnie Prince Charlie and his famous Jacobite Battle. The cuisine using local produce is of a very high standard, here you can expect dishes like Baked Halibut Steak, with a dill crust set on stir fried mange tout surrounded by an asparagus cream sauce or Prime Aberdeen Angus Sirloin Steak, with potato rosti & a blue cheese sauce.
The hotel has its own salmon and trout fishing locally, together with all the supporting facilities and is an ideal base for a weeks fishing. The surrounding area is renowned for its salmon fishing, especially on the River Tweed, while the countryside is excellent for touring with a number of historic ruined abbeys. While Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh and its many attractions is just an hour’s drive away. |
