Ye Olde Bull’s Head is a historic hostelry in a fabulous setting besides the medieval ruins of Beaumaris Castle on the Isle of Anglesey in north Wales. Olde Worlde charm and historic character encompass the Olde Bull and the inn has been a convivial meeting place beside the medieval fortress of Beaumaris for centuries. Originally built in 1472 the Olde Bull was a coaching house and last staging post en route to Ireland. During its long history, Ye Olde Bull’s Head has entertained such luminaries as Charles Dickens and during the 1645 siege of Beaumaris Castle, the horses of Cromwell’s forces were stabled in the courtyard. The low ceilings and wooden beamed bar display the history of Ye Olde Bull’s Head, while the bedrooms are furbished to very high standards, equipped with all the modern essentials, while retaining their traditional character. In contrast the restaurant has been fitted in a sophisticated, bold and contemporary style in tune with the cuisine. On the menu you’ll find a selection of modern European dishes with classic French influences using the finest local produce from Welsh Black Beef and Welsh Lamb to a mouth watering array of locally caught seafood. The hotel’s brasserie offers less formal dining and proves exceedingly popular with locals. Ye Olde Bull’s Head is an excellent touring base for exploring the mountains of Snowdonia, the medieval castles of North Wales and the beautiful Isle of Anglesey. |
