Speech House

Luxury accommodation in Britain

A former hunting lodge from the 17th Century, Speech House is set deep in the Forest of Dean outside Gloucester.

Hidden away within 35 square miles of woodland, Speech House was built in 1676 for King Charles II in the former royal hunting grounds of the Forest of Dean. Speech House is a relaxing getaway perfect for activity breaks for simply unwinding in the countryside. The hotel has well appointed bedrooms, several with four poster beds combining modern facilities with period charm.

Speech House has a number of dining options from its formal a la carte restaurant to its informal bar and the hotel also boasts a full range of leisure facilities. These include gym, sauna, jacuzzi, beauty therapist, masseuse and golf course, though guests are advised to book use prior to arrival. A number of activities are available from golf to walking and cycling and Speech House is the only hotel, (certainly that my guide Britain is aware of) offering llama trekking.
