Ruthin Castle

Luxury accommodation in Britain

A fabulous 13th Century castle, Ruthin Castle is set within magnificent grounds, in the borderlands of Wales.

Built by King Edward I of England in 1282 Ruthin castle was originally used to keep watch over the Welsh borders and guard from attack by the native welsh. The castle’s 35 acres of gardens and grounds include medieval ruins and dungeons.

Inside, Ruthin Castle boasts two magnificent lounges, an oak panelled entrance hall and a bar in the library, all of which are in keeping with the historic character of the castle. The hotel has a wide selection of bedrooms, each individually furnished, blending with the romance of the castle, yet equipped with all the amenities of a modern hotel.

Dining in this once mighty Welsh fortress provides a memorable experience, whether in the hotel’s fine restaurant or in the great hall of the castle to join in the merriment of Wales’ original medieval banquet.

Ruthin Castle is well placed for exploring the many mighty castles of north Wales and the wonderful mountain scenery of Snowdonia. The castle is also just 20 miles from Chester, a historic city famous for its exclusive designer shops.
