Northcote Manor

Luxury accommodation in Britain

A peaceful retreat, deep in the sleepy Devonshire countryside, Northcote Manor is a million miles away from the hassle of modern life.

Northcote Manor is found up a long meandering woodland driveway which brings you to an attractive 18th Century country house of lilac wisteria clad stone walls fronted by carefully clipped, lush green lawns. The house once served as a tranquil retreat for the Monks of Tavistock Abbey, presumably when life in the Abbey got too hectic and its soothing qualities are in evidence at the hotel.

The interiors have been sympathetically renovated, while maintaining some past and original features, granting Northcote Manor a fresh feel to its old country charm. Broad, tall reception and public areas are decorated with soft, mellow colours and matching cosy sofas, tasteful furnishings and an ornamental fireplace and burning log fire in the lounge.

The hotel has a selection of well-proportioned bedrooms and suites, each are individually designed to the height of elegance and comfort furnished with capacious beds, some with romantic four-poster beds, fresh flowers, gentle colours and spacious luxury bathrooms, with fluffy robes tucked behind the door and many have walk in showers. The views across the lawns, woodland and garden and out across the peaceful Taw River Valley are there to greet you in the morning.

The spacious and harmonious Manor House Restaurant is decked out with bright and breezy colours and features a fabulous mural depicting the rich history of Northcote Manor, a serene setting for a fabulous gourmet meal in unhurried enjoyment. Dishes are freshly prepared to the highest standards using the finest local ingredients and the Hotel has a reputation as one of the best restaurants in North Devon.

Northcote Manor has its own tennis courts within its 20-acre grounds while slower paced activities include croquet on the lawn. Further afield there is game fishing on the River Taw and the wilds of Exmoor and Dartmoor are to be explored along with the pretty coastal villages of North Devon.
