Grown from a humble country pub, into a contemporary restaurant, then a contemporary restaurant with stylish rooms, The Newbridge is now a dynamic blend of each.
Idyllically situated by the old bridge over the River Usk, there has been a Coaching Inn occupying this site for over 200 years. The Newbridge is a recently renovated country pub, floorboards have been stripped, stone walls laid bare and an old-fashioned stove fire burns logs in the reception area.
A neat and tidy bar is well stocked with a good selection of ales and fine wines and the restaurant has been making waves with its fabulous menu. Fresh local produce is used to create classic dishes of excellent food cooked simply, presented without fuss in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There is also an elegantly appointed private dining area situated with a backdrop of wine racks.
Then there are the rooms which have been imaginatively laid out in a rustic Tuscan style, that though a little out of place in Wales works extremely well with lovely teak wood furnishings blending with the Tuscan orange. All the rooms are very well appointed and generously sized particularly the fabulous four-poster suite. Bathrooms feature marble and limestone tiles with unique hand made fittings, storm-like showers and beautiful roll top baths.
The Newbridge has succeeded in combining a number of functions very well and its small intimate air is coupled with a warm welcome from friendly staff and host that make it worth a visit.
