Tyddyn Llan is an elegant Georgian country house on the eastern boundaries of Snowdonia reborn as a restaurant with rooms, that has fast become a darling among welsh culinary circles.
Before they settled at Tyddyn Llan, the hosts ran the celebrated restaurant ‘Hilaire’ in London for over a decade. Within a short time at Tyddyn Llan, they won the coveted Good Food Guide, Restaurant of the Year for Wales award.
It’s easy to see what impressed the judges; imaginative dishes such as, roast calves sweetbreads with lentils, carrots and Madeira, or roast pigeon with Savoy cabbage and Foie Gras; an uncompromising attitude to sourcing the finest ingredients, much of it local; exemplary presentation and a selection of over 200 wines from around the world together with Armagnacs, Brandies and Digestives. And this is what is just on the table, the surroundings of the spacious restaurant are modernly furnished yet maintain a sense of country style, creating a relaxed comfortable atmosphere, that combined with the hospitality and service of the hosts, make Tyddyn Llan feel almost like a dinner party.
Afterwards guests can recline in the one of the nooks of the homely lounge before slinking off to bed. Each of Tyddyn Llan’s spacious bedrooms are individually decorated with some neat little touches, period furniture and all the modern comforts together with high quality, luxurious bathrooms. Tyddyn Llan has excellent facilities for wheel chair users in with a very large bedroom on the ground that is fitted to equally high standards.
With the 3 acre gardens of Tyddyn Llan blooming with daffodils and bluebells in spring and summer, the dignified Georgian house looks just as attractive as the delights served up in the restaurant or those to be found in the rooms.
