A hip hotel in an historic setting, the highly acclaimed Morgans oozes style and sophistication and is quite justly the pride of Swansea.
In its first year of opening, Morgans scooped the ultimate accolade in being named Welsh Hotel of the Year by one respected guide. The hotel is situated in Swansea’s Port Authority building, built in 1902. This Grade II listed building lay languishing for over a decade before it was transformed, with a great deal of care, effort and indeed money into a sophisticated, modern, city hotel while maintaining the character of the building.
From the outside little has changed in its flamboyant architecture, but inside Morgans has been fitted with sharp interiors and cool contemporary furnishings, from the suave, lounge and champagne bars to the plush minimalism of the restaurant. Yet Morgan’s have cleverly blended cutting edge design with an abundance of the buildings original features, the pillars, staircases, the stained glass cupola above reception, even the original radiators, creating a sense of historic character along with interiors of the here and now.
The bedrooms too are unashamedly modern, varying in sizes from the big to the enormous with no expense spared on the decor. Each are individually styled incorporating stripped wooden floor boards, eye catching modern furnishings, the best of modern comforts such as DVD players etc, luxurious beds made up of Egyptian cotton and fabulous and spacious bathrooms some with daring double showers.
Dining at Morgans is a sophisticated but relaxed affair, set in the stylish restaurant where you’ll find fresh local fish, succulent steaks, luscious Welsh lamb and delicious deserts.
Morgans is a hotel that is big on personality and charm and this is maintained also by the staff, who are genuinely friendly and hospitable.
