St Andrews is of course the birthplace of golf and a Mecca for golfers of all pars the world over. The Rusacks is steeped in golfing folklore, opened in 1887 the hotel has seen over a century’s play at the Old Course witnessing some of the most famous moments in golfing history.
The building itself is a hugely impressive structure, a throw back to the splendour of the Victorian era. Inside it is no less opulent with the rich colours and smooth oaks of the copious reception areas and the relaxed refinery of the drawing room from which you can observe the first tee off.
The bedrooms carry on the theme of prestige and grandeur, with wide and spacious suites and junior suites, successfully combining traditional antique décor with every modern comfort, offering wonderful views across the course, the sun bleached west sands beach and the gentle St Andrews coastline.
As you may expect the Rusacks offers fine dining, with award winning The Old Course Restaurant providing both a la carte and table d’hote menus using magnificent seafood and game all locally sourced of course. Again the panoramic views across the course and the coastline are spectacular which is shared in the elegant and formal settings of The Old Course Bar. For a more relaxed and informal drink there is the well-stocked lounge bar in the basement. This is at ground level with the Old Course so watch out for stray golf balls!
The hotel also has a sauna and solarium in which to unwind after a long day’s golfing before you spend the evening boasting about your game.
