Built around a distinguished Edwardian town house, over looking a tree-lined park on the east coast of Scotland, the Links Hotel makes a warm retreat within the famous golfing region.
Though much of the hotel has been extended to incorporate modern features the Edwardian building still retains it authentic charm and staff ensure traditional Scottish hospitality.
On entering reception your attention is immediately captivated by the stunning stain class window above the staircase. Installed 100 years ago this historic piece, featuring the four seasons, was painted by Daniel Cottier. Cottier committed similar works to St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh and this piece has been valued at over £100,000.
Each of the 25 bedrooms is uniquely themed but are all light and airy and pleasantly decorated with modern soft wood furnishings. Some have a private balcony with relaxing views overlooking the local park.
The Links Hotel boasts a restaurant with an enviable local reputation. Formal dining is offered in style where French executive chef offers an exciting mix of Scottish and continental cuisine. For less formal all day dining the hotel’s Koffiehuis offers an enticing choice of imaginative dishes that can be enjoyed al-fresco on the terrace. A special feature at the Links is after dinner Jazz with regular performances from Scottish and internationally renowned jazz and blues musicians which in association with the Scottish Arts Council has built up an excellent reception.
Activities such as fishing, shooting and horse riding can be arranged through the hotel and then of course there is the golf. With two championship courses in Montrose, the Montrose Links, Scotland’s fifth oldest golf course and Medal Course Montrose offering junior and beginner facilities and of course the championship course at Carnoustie not far away, the Links is ideally placed for golfers of all handicaps.
