Heysham
Located just outside Morecambe, some 65 miles from Manchester , the port of Heysham is one of the main car ferry links to the Isle of Man.
In truth, catching the ferry over to the Isle of Man is the only likely reason to come to Heysham, which provides the shortest crossing to Douglas, the capital of the Island. Located half way between Britain and Ireland and measuring just over 1,000 sq km, the Isle of Man has an interesting history and is identified as separate from the mainland in a number of ways. As a crown protectorate, the Isle of Man has its own currency, language and parliament, the longest running in the world.
Visitors cross over from Heysham to sample the rugged beauty of the Isle of Man, taking tours by horse drawn tram or at a much faster pace by motorcycle during the famous TT Races in June.
