Countries

England

england A country of royalty and pomp, quaint villages, English country gardens, stately sprawls and wistful rolling countryside there’s no place quite like England.

England is a country known, the world over, for its consumption of tea, its propensity for the inexplicable game of cricket (and usually loosing) and its national obsession with the weather. But despite its eccentricities, England has been at the hub of Britain and indeed the rest of the world throughout most of its history. The English language is the most widely spoken in the world and, its system of governance has been adopted in countless nations around the globe.

Scotland

scotland Geographically and culturally speaking, Scotland is a land apart from the rest of Britain. A land of great untamed beauty, home to a people with a distinctive culture and a proud national identity, Scotland is a country that deserves special attention and will reward you with a lifetime of cherished memories.

For many people Scotland begins and ends with Edinburgh , the country’s capital city or Glasgow its contemporary urban centre. But of Scotland’s many attributes, its most prized is the romantic wilderness of the Highlands . A vast untamed area of rugged peaks, heather swept glens and shimmering lochs, all teeming with wildlife.

Wales

wales The Principality of Wales as part of Great Britain is not a region, as is a common misconception internationally. Wales is a country in its own right, as proudly distinct in the British Isles as Scotland and England and it is now gaining equal recognition on the world stage.

Wales is in resurgence both politically and culturally, with its vibrant capital Cardiff promoting itself as Europe’s youngest Capital City as it was established as such in 1955. There is an irony here not lost on the Welsh, as theirs is one of the oldest cultures and languages in Europe, established here by the Celts around 600BC.
