Detailed itinerary:

Day Number 1: Depart USA

Depart USA Overnight flight to London.

Day Number 2: Arrive London (2nights)

After checking into your hotel, take the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Day Number 3: London sightseeing & at leisure

Many major London sights are included on your morning sightseeing tour. Then London is yours to discover for yourselves. (Continental breakfast)

Day Number 4: London - Stonehenge - Salisbury - Looe - Plymouth

Greetings this morning from your Tour Director as you travel to Salisbury Plain and ancient Stonehenge. Next head to Salisbury Cathedral before travelling past Exeter and Dartmoor to cross the River Tamar into Cornwall and the 12th century smugglers village of Looe. Spend the evening in Plymouth where you can enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director and fellow travelling companions before dinner at the hotel. (Continental breakfast/ Dinner)

Day Number 5: Plymouth - Bath - Cardiff

Today you’ll make your way to Glastonbury to visit the Abbey ruins. Then on through Wells with its majestic Cathedral to Bath where orientation includes a visit to the Roman Baths. Next you’ll cross the Severn Bridge into Wales and its capital, Cardiff. Tonight, join in a medieval banquet at Cardiff`s splendid castle. (Full Welsh breakfast)

Day Number 6: Cardiff - Tintern - Chester

Enjoy a scenic drive along the beautiful Wye Valley, stopping to view the ruins of Tintern Abbey. Then you’ll head through Hereford to the Norman town of Ludlow with its imposing castle, before continuing to Chester for the night. Here an orientation highlights its Cathedral, city walls, Tudor architecture and galleried shops known as the Rows. (Full English breakfast/ Dinner)

Day Number 7: Chester - Lake District - Glasgow

A day of glorious scenery as you travel through the Lancashire and into the beauty of the Lake District, travelling alongside Lake Windermere and through the countryside which inspired Wordsworth`s poetry. Continue north into Scotland and on to its largest city, Glasgow for the night.

Day Number 8: Glasgow - Glencoe - Scottish Highlands

Enjoy a morning orientation tour before driving through Scotland`s rugged landscape. You`ll travel past the banks of Loch Lomond on our way deep into the Highlands and on to Glencoe. Next past Britain`s highest peak, Ben Nevis, to Fort William to see the Commando Memorial. Finally, your journey takes you through the glens to your hotel for the next two nights. Day Number 9: Highlands & Skye Excursion

A remarkable scenic day begins with a stop at Culloden Moor to see the site of the battle which defeated the hopes of Bonnie Prince Charlie. The you’ll drive along the shores of Loch Ness, and `over the sea to Skye`. You’ll spend a short time on this beautiful Isle before more stunning scenery, on your return journey to your hotel. (Full Scottish breakfast/ Dinner)

Day Number 10: Scottish Highlands - Balmoral - St. Andrews - Edinburgh (2 nights)

Today your first stop is a visit to the Ballroom of Balmoral Castle (when open), the Royal Family`s Scottish retreat. From here you’ll head off to Crathie Church, where Princess Anne was married and continue your journey through Braemar, host of the Royal Highland Games, to St. Andrews and its world famous Golf Links. Finally, heading across the splendid Forth Bridge, you’ll arrive in Scotland`s capital, Edinburgh for two nights. During the Festival, we include tickets to the spectacular Edinburgh Tattoo – an unforgettable experience. (Full Scottish breakfast) Please note: When Balmoral Castle is closed, the tour will visit Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the Queen Mother.

Day Number 11: Edinburgh sightseeing & at leisure

Our morning sightseeing tour of Edinburgh includes a visit to the Castle and views of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, once the home of Mary Queen of Scots. Take the rest of your day at leisure, perhaps to shop along Princes Street and the Royal Mile. Tonight, why not enjoy an optional night out with bagpipes, Highland dancing and haggis? (Full Scottish breakfast)

Day Number 12: Edinburgh - York - Harrogate

This morning after breakfast you’ll travel past ruined Jedburgh Abbey back into England. From here you continue through the Northumberland National Park to medieval York. Here admire the city walls and York Minster with time to stroll through the `Shambles`. This evening, you`ll enjoy typical Yorkshire hospitality at a dinner in a local pub before reaching your hotel at Harrogate.

Day Number 13: Harrogate - Coventry - Stratford - Solihull

Your day begins with a scenic drive through the Midlands to Coventry, home of Lady Godiva, to see its old and new Cathedrals. From here your journey takes you past Anne Hathaway`s cottage to Stratford-upon-Avon where you will visit Shakespeare`s birthplace. Later, make your way to Solihull for dinner and an overnight stay. (Full English breakfast/ Dinner)

Day Number 14: Solihull - Woodstock - Oxford - London

After breakfast this morning, enjoy a scenic drive through the Cotswold Hills. On your journey via Blenheim Palace, stop in the village of Woodstock perhaps for a cup of tea in one of the charming cafes and then on to Bladon to view Sir Winston Churchill`s grave en route to Oxford. In the academic town visit one of the famous Colleges (or the Sheldonian theatre when the Colleges are closed). Later, continue your drive back to London. (Full English breakfast)

Day Number 15: London - USA

Bid farewell to Britain and your new-found friends as you transfer to the airport for your return flight to America. (Continental breakfast)
