Eastgate Hotel

Prices From $187 per room

A former 17th century coaching inn the Eastgate Hotel is peacefully located on a quiet side street in a central location within the historic city of Oxford .

Just a short stroll from the hotel you will find the bustling town-centre with its abundance of traditional shops, eateries and attractions not to mention the historic university colleges.

The Eastgate hotel dates back over 300 years and, with its townhouse appearance and sandstone brickwork, is part of the very fabric of historic Oxford. Inside however, with tradition in mind, the hotel has been carefully and sympathetically refurbished. Complete with sit-down check-in, soft lighting, timber flooring, classic armchairs and dark wood furnishings, the reception and lounge areas now boast a warm, homely atmosphere with a fitting academic twist.

Guest bedrooms at the Townhouse are well-appointed and moderately sized each with a number of unique features and several boasting views over the lawns of the University Examination Schools. All of the 63 rooms have been finished in airy, natural tones of cream and white and are classically furnished with relaxing easy chairs and dark wood desks and bedside units. Bathrooms are decorated in striking white with large bath tubs and modern functional fittings. All rooms are fully air-conditioned and most are entirely non-smoking. Bedrooms at the Eastgate Hotel offer a range of facilities to be expected of a 4* accommodation including radio, flat-screen television with satellite channels, wifi internet access and a mini-bar.

The Eastgate Hotel provides excellent dining in the High Table Brasserie and Bar which was opened, newly renovated, in 2008 but rapidly became popular with both residents and guests alike. The Brasserie is chic but cosy in design, combining glass topped tables with contrasting stark white and mellow dark padded seating. The dinner menu offers a variety of contemporary English dishes with a European twist and was awarded an AA rosette in the year of its opening, whilst the drinks menu has its own specially selected wine list. Whilst excellent for evening dining the Brasserie is also the ideal setting for the buffet breakfast, light lunches and afternoon tea or coffee when it also offers a selection of pastries.

The Eastgate hotel is a classic English hotel bringing together tradition with contemporary comfort.
