Suggested Tour Summary - customizable in any way
A six day tour of the magical South East of England . Explore college quads in Cambridge and Eaton, grand, gothic cathedrals in Canterbury and Winchester and walk the famous white cliffs of Dover. Also on the itinerary are the stunning Leeds Castle, Sissinghurst and naval city Portsmouth home of HMS Victory, Nelson's most famous battleship.

The Tour

Day 1 - Cambridge Colleges

Landing in Heathrow or Gatwick head north to the university town of Cambridge , mingle with the academics as you stroll the quaint cobbled streets or take a relaxing punt on the river Cam. Get a snap of the famous Christ's college facade or King's College Chapel before heading on to Cambridge's American Cemetery and Memorial commemorating thousands of lost lives in the World War's. Nearby Duxford is also home to an American Air museum and Imperial War Museum.

Day 2 - Leeds Castle and Canterbury

Head south around London and in to Kent, England's oldest county. First stop will be the spectacular Leeds Castle built upon two islands in the river Len and visited by British monarchy since Tudor times. A stop in the quaint harbour town of Whistable with its stunning castle and gardens is an option before heading to Canterbury the ecclesiastical capital of England, with its 12th Century Cathedral , famed in Chaucer’s ‘A Canterbury Tale’. Canterbury oozes history so take time to explore the Westgate towers and gardens, the Norman Castle ruins, Roman Museum or enjoy a historic river tour.

Day 3 - The White Cliffs, Dover Castle and Brighton

This morning take time to enjoy Dover , explore the bustling harbour before visiting the imposing Dover Castle sat high upon the famous white cliffs. From here journey on to Hastings, sight of the famous battle in 1066. The surrounding area is dotted with historic landmarks including Battle Abbey and Bodium and Pevensey Castles . Finally head for the coastal city of Brighton, one of England's traditional Georgian seaside resorts. After visiting the grand regency architecture of the Brighton Pavillion indulge in a Great British tradition with a stroll along the promenade with a portion of fresh fish and chips.

Day 4 - Navy City of Portsmouth and Winchester

Continue along the coast to the traditional home of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth which boasts a wealth of Naval Heritage. Visitors can climb aboard Lord Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar the HMS Victory, examine the remains of the Mary Rose, built in 1509 for King Henry VIII, wander around the decks of the Victorian steam powered battleship HMS Warrior and submerse yourself in the HMS Alliance Royal Navy Submarine. From here make the short journey north to historic Winchester which once stood as England’s Capital under the reign of King Alfred. Winchester was the centre point for the ancient land of Wessex, a region pre-dating the English state itself. Take time to explore the meandering streets and marvel at the spectacular cathedral.

Day 5 - Eaton College and Windsor Castle

On day five experience one of England's great institutions with a visit to Eaton College and museum, school to a host of famous Britons past and present including British Prime Ministers, Princes William and Harry and even James Bond! Then on to Windsor itself where you can wander the cobbled streets and visit the largest inhabited stronghold in the world, Windsor Castle. Still a royal residence today, Windsor Castle harbours hundreds of years of history of the British Monarchy.

Day 6 - Return Home

Return home with memories of Cambridge colleges, grand medieval cathedrals, Tudor Castles and the scenic South East coast of England.
