Castell Deudraeth
Prices From $346 per room
The impressive baronial style Victorian mansion, Castell Deudraeth is a perfect blend of individuality and flair that brings fabulously hip interiors to contrast the sumptuous surroundings of Portmeirion .Situated on the approach to the famous architectural wonder of Portmeirion, Castell Deudraeth is a bold castellated mansion that Portmeirion's architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis once described as, 'the largest and most imposing single building on the Portmeirion estate', an amazing complement considering the range of astonishing architecture around the village. Castell Deudraeth opened its door to guests in 2001 and adds to Portmeirion's eclectic collection of buildings a hotel with a more contemporary complexion.
Inside Castell Deudraeth fuses natural materials of oak and slate with contemporary style of crisp clean uncluttered designs and neutral colours in a simple 'less is more' attitude. All bedrooms within the castle are spacious and lightly coloured, furnished with exquisite king or queen sized beds, luxurious whirlpool bathtubs and real flame gas fires, as well as under floor heating and wide screen TVs and up to date entertainment systems.
The brassiere style restaurant at Castell Deudraeth, allows for informal dining in modern settings. The menu takes from the very best of local produce, lamb from the valleys around Bala, beef from the Llyn Peninsula and lobster and crab from its coastline as well as rock oysters from Anglesey . All of which is complemented by a fine wine list. Alternatively guests are welcome to dine in the more formal and classical restaurant at Hotel Portmeirion .
