Welcome to Britain

Britain is an island whose stature vastly
outweighs its size, an island with an abundance of heritage sites
and places of interest, of prestige and pageantry, Royalty and history.
Making up Great Britain are three distinctly different countries, England, Scotland and Wales, forged together by geography and history. The United Kingdom includes the small autonomous islands and Northern Ireland and the strictly geographical term of the British Isles, includes the Republic of Ireland as well. It's hard to believe that Britain, this small island, an area smaller than most US states, once ruled half the world's population and had a profound influence on much of the rest. Throughout much of its history, Britain has played a key role on the world stage, enriching it with a unique and fascinating heritage and this island has produced and inspired countless luminaries in the worlds of science, art and literature. Britain draws millions of visitors each year, for many it is the lure of London, the heart of the nation's heritage, a truly world-class city of historic landmarks, royal palaces and famous cultural centres. But outside of London, Britain has a rich and diverse wealth of character, culture and history to discover. For a small island, Britain is crammed with famous and fascinating places to visit and for each sight such as, Stonehenge, Edinburgh, Tintern Abbey, Oxford, Loch Ness, Snowdon and Big Ben, there is a hidden gem waiting to be found. Britain is famous for its castles, from the stately sprawls that dot the English countryside, the mighty medieval fortresses of Wales and the remote towers of Scotland, as evocative as their surroundings. From the idyllic English countryside of the Cotswolds, the rolling valleys and mighty mountains of Wales or the sheer rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands, the scenery of these three countries offers so much variety. Individually, England, Scotland and Wales have much to offer and it's not just the accents that are different! The character, way of life and in Wales and parts of Scotland even the language is different. These are countries of great contrast and diversity, and at my guide Britain we like to give them individual attention. |
