All Cunard’s Queens in New York

January 15th, 2008

Yesterday was a historic day for Cunard as The QE2, Queen Mary2 and the new Queen Victoria sailed up the Hudson into New York to a firework welcome (see video). Now we’re not a cruise website by any stretch of the imagination, and I’ve never sailed on any of these ships, but it strikes me that this is a mighty fine way of starting one’s vacation in Britain (or perhaps finishing off).

Most of our Guests, due to time and other constraints will fly to Britain, and we do have a small number of Guests who will combine a tour of Britain with a cruise of Scandinavia and the Baltic or the Mediterranean. To my recollection we’ve never arranged a vacation combined with a transatlantic sea crossing but it’s something we can offer our Guests. So if you’ve the time and you’re willing to pay a little extra to get here totally relaxed and without jet lag then this may just be the thing for you. One thing is certain. If you do choose to travel to Britain with us this way, the myguideBritain Rolls Royce (with champagne on ice) will be awaiting your arrival at Southampton. Bon Voyage!

My Dad has always wanted to cross the Atlantic but is afraid to fly. People of a certain generation I guess. This might just be the solution!

I agree. This would be a great solution for someone who is afraid to fly. Also this would be a very good solution for wheelchair users who don’t want to go through the hassles of flying. In fact since my post yesterday I searched our records and found that we have used the QE2 for a Gulf war vet who was a wheelchair user. She came over by herself, we met her at quayside with a vehicle that could accommodate the wheelchair and took her to her London Hotel. We then picked her up daily from the hotel for individual guided tours both in and out of the city.
