Britain’s premier seaside resort, Blackpool has been part of the country’s bucket and spade tourist industry since the 19th century. Famed for its Golden Mile and Blackpool Tower, it boasts 21st century entertainments from Rollercoasters to Casinos.

For some, this capital of kitsch may not quite be your fish and chips. But Blackpool is the classic British ‘beside the seaside’ resort, offering simple unadulterated fun for all the family. Among all the amusement arcades, kiss me quick hats, sticks of rock and fish and chip shops, of Blackpool’s promenade known as the Golden Mile, you find Blackpool’s three piers, its Pleasure Beach amusement park and of course the famous Blackpool Tower.

Built in 1894, the steel tower is Blackpool’s most famous landmark. Measuring over 150 metres high, Blackpool Tower houses a huge entertainment centre, with a circus, cabaret, ballroom and children’s entertainment. Each day from 2pm to 11pm the ballroom is open for afternoon tea and dancing to the tones of Blackpool’s famous Wurlitzer organ.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is the UK’s most visited outdoor attraction drawing over seven million visitors a year. The amusement park boasts over 70 rides, from stomach churning roller coasters like the Big One, the Big Dipper and the Revolution, that are guaranteed to thrill children – of all ages.

Opposite the Pleasure Beach is the Sand Castle a huge indoor water centre, with water slides, ideal for children who may be too young for the pleasure beach and perfect for those rainy days.

From September to November, Blackpool’s Golden Mile is lit up by the famous Blackpool Illuminations.

Evening Entertainments in Blackpool range from boozy pubs, (Blackpool is popular with Hen and Stag or Batchelor and Batchelorette parties) to comedy, cabaret and more recently casinos, as Blackpool fast becomes the Las Vegas of the UK.
