The International Beatles Festival

During August, Liverpool the home of the Fab Four celebrates its most famous sons with the International Beatles Festival.

For seven days in August, Matthew Street and the world famous Cavern Club, becomes the capital of Beatlemania, as Liverpool hosts the International Beatles Festival. 200 bands from over 20 countries around the globe will come together along with Beatles fans from all over the world to celebrate the music of John, Paul, George and Ringo.

The International Beatles Festival combines live music with exhibitions, audio-visual shows, guest speakers, guided tours of the Beatles’ old haunts, a memorabilia market and a full day conference at the Adelphi Hotel. The festival is a must for fans of the Fab Four.

Liverpool, which is crowned European Capital of Culture in 2008, is a virtual Beatles Mecca, and pilgrims come from all over the world to the place where John, Paul, George and Ringo grew up and formed the most famous band of all time. Beatles fans can visit the Beatles Story exhibition outlining the history of the band and their music. While the Magical Mystery Tour is an unmissable bus trip around various places associated with the Beatles as they grew up, including a tour of John Lennon’s childhood home, the school Paul McCartney attended and places from the songs Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.
