Set around a stately Victorian Hall, with its own 18-hole golf course, Aldwark Manor is a modern country hotel with a winning combination of relaxed country charm and excellent hospitality.

Situated in the countryside surrounding York , in gentle parkland of mature oak, with the River Ure meandering through, Aldwark Manor was built in 1865 for Lord Walsingham as a wedding present for his eldest daughter. The exterior of this attractive manor house provides the centrepiece for the hotel, though has been added to with more modern yet sympathetically designed hotel apartments and is surrounded by a popular 18-hole golf course.

Inside, Aldwark Manor is a mix of classic country charm and stylish modern chic. The reception and adjoining lounge hankers to the traditional with grand log wood fires and comfortable sofas. Whereas the residents bar and restaurant are very contemporary, set out with soft lighting and modern furnishings.

The bedrooms too are split between the classic and the contemporary. Guest have a choice of ornate four poster suites, with more traditional touches and rooms with exposed beams or those with crisp clean lines, uncluttered minimalism and cutting edge style. Aldwark Manor has an excellent restaurant that has won accolades for its relaxed fine dining. The service is excellent and the menu provides an imaginative mix of modern British cuisine with European influences. Alternatively, informal bistro style food is served in the stylish bar, popular with golfers evaluating their day's round. On mild summer days the terrace patio overlooking the golf course is a popular place for light snacks and drinks.
